A Look at Ghostbusters: Afterlife’s Baskin Robbins Canceled Promotion
Last year, Baskin-Robbins gave customers the chance to drool their summer, offering a green drool topping that would have made an incredible connection to Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
While many fans assumed the promo was originally meant to tie into Afterlife, likely canceled due to the film’s numerous delays, we haven’t been able to get confirmation of that theory, at least until now.
Today’s feature comes from 22squared’s SVP of Design and Digital Experiences, Daniel Brown, who has uploaded what appears to be a near-complete portfolio of concepts and designs surrounding the promotion, which includes images of lime ice cream topped with the green slime topping, as well as an unnamed flavor, which may have been inspired by Mini-Pufts or Muncher.
Speaking of the Afterlife cast of characters, Mini-Pufts were expected to adorn the store. This would have come from using various window and floor stickers and seeing the marshmallow minions getting into matching hijinks.
Ghostbusters themed tubs of ice cream, with the slogan The paranormal is the new normalare also featured, and while this is just a guess, they would likely have been related to the aforementioned themed ice creams.
Not to stop there, to accompany the delicious desserts, clothing was also going to be available, including a design of the Mini-Pufts commandeering the Ecto-1, with an ice cream cone in hand!
Of course, that’s not to say that a Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Baskin-Robbins tie-in didn’t happen, because aside from the movie including a scene of Paul Rudd’s character choosing a pint of Jamoca ice cream, a Funko Pop exclusive ! of a Mini-Puft was made available. The Australian venues also ran an exclusive promotion, offering a Toasted Marshmallow Ghost Cup.
