Body found amid search for missing man in Fox Lake after tube crash – NBC Chicago
After two days of searching, Fox Lake Fire Protection District officials said they found a body in the water after a man went missing while casing on the lake on Friday morning.
Authorities resumed the search for the missing man on Sunday morning and announced shortly after recovering the body of an unidentified individual. Officials said all rescue boats and personnel had been removed from the water.
Around 10 a.m. on Friday, firefighters and police were called to part of the lake near Crabapple Island over the report of a missing man.
Authorities said a 28-year-old father and his two children were riding on an inner tube that was being pulled by a boat, and at one point the tube hit a wave and all three were thrown into the lake. The father, who was not wearing a life jacket, did not resurface over the water.
Law enforcement and firefighters from a number of departments were scouring Fox Lake on Friday in an attempt to find a 28-year-old father who fell into the water in a tube accident.
Both children were wearing life jackets, Fox Lake Fire Protection District officials said.
The operation was aided by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and several local fire departments.
