Men’s Athletics scheduled for two battles on Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After a competitive performance at the Angry Birds Challenge on Saturday, the Lehigh men’s track team will compete in two events on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks will have several athletes competing at the Villanova Open at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island while others will compete in the Covert Classic inside Rauch Fieldhouse.
Lehigh is coming off a third-place finish where the Mountain Hawks finished behind Monmouth and Binghamton with 119.5 points.
Fourteen student-athletes completed the Angry Birds Challenge with new personal bests, including that of freshman year Liam Lovering who finished fourth in the shot put (14.43m) and freshman trio Mulenga Malama (6.48m), Jordan Layos (6.46m) and Jalen Blango (6.18m) who finished sixth, seventh and eighth respectively in the long jump.
The Mountain Hawks will be looking to add to their wins and set personal bests while competing in two locations on Saturday.
At the Villanova Classic, Lehigh will face Connecticut, St. John’s, Penn, Temple and more. The Mountain Hawks competing in Rauch are ready to battle against several different schools such as DeSales, Colgate, Moravian, Saint Joseph’s. Moravian is the host institution of the Covert Classic.
The Villanova Open will begin at 12 p.m. with the women’s shot put, women’s pole vault, and men’s and women’s long jump. The Covert Classic, which will be held at Rauch Fieldhouse but will be hosted by Moravian, kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday with the women’s pole vault and men’s 5k.
