Men’s golf tied for sixth in Eugene

EUGENE, Oregon – Carson Barry is tied for sixth to lead the Oregon State men’s golf team after 36 holes on Monday in day one of the Duck Invitational.

The event, which takes place at Eugene Country Club for 71, 6,995 yards, sees the Beavers tied for sixth on a team with San Jose State, posting a 17 of 285. The Duck Invitational ends Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. PT with a shotgun start.

The Beavers rebounded from a 16 of 300 over the first 18 holes. OSU finished with a 1-of-285 in the second 18, led by Barry, who finished at 3-under 69. He finished the day at par after posting a 3-of-74 in the morning. He was among the individual leaders with seven birdies on the day, including five in the second round.

Barry was one of only 10 competitors – out of a total of 91 – to finish at par or better.

Mateo Fuenmayor and Nolan Thoroughgood were both close behind tied for 24and at 4 of 146. Fuenmayor had the biggest improvement of the seven OSU entrants, finishing eight shots better in the second round, tying Barry’s 3-under 69. He opened the day at 6 of 77. He’ll head into Tuesday’s action with a 4 of 146.

Thoroughgood, who competes individually, improved by two strokes in the second round. He started with a 3 of 74, but finished with a 1 of 72 to total a 4 of 146 that day. He placed third among 21 individual competitors at the event.

Brandon Eyre is tied for 39and after two rounds; he shot even on the par-3 and par-5 holes. He improved two shots in the second round (2 of 73) and heads into the final day of action with a 6 of 148.

Carson Enright posted an 8 of 150 that day and will head into Tuesday to tie for 56and. It is followed by Jackson Lake who is tied for 60and at 9 out of 151. Brody Marconialso playing as an individual, posted a 12 of 164.
