This haunted San Antonio mansion was investigated on Travel Channel’s ‘Portals to Hell’
Victoria’s Black Swan Inn – known locally as a hub of paranormal activity – has landed an upcoming feature on the Travel Channel Portals to Hell. The Greek Revival plantation house was built in 1867 on a grassy hill across from Salado Creek.
Just 20 years before the house was built for the occupation of various San Antonio socialites, General Caldwell and his men are said to have slaughtered over 60 Mexican soldiers in the bloody Battle of Salado on the grounds while defending the Republic of Texas. Since the early 1990s, the property has been under the stewardship of JoAnn Rivera, who claims to have had extensive contact with the spirit world. According to Rivera, who raised her children at home, she knows about eight distinct spirits that coexist with her and her family.
